Candidate's Statement

Marc, a native Floridian, is a decorated military veteran with a long history of service and community involvement in Jacksonville. Not only has Marc served to protect our country in the military, as an Assistant State Attorney he put violent criminals in prison, making the streets safer for everyone. Marc is presently in private practice and a partner at Hardesty, Tyde, Green & Ashton, P.A. in Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach. Marc’s dedication to helping Jacksonville reach its economic potential and maintaining our city’s unique character for future generations is evident in his record of service. Marc became interested in serving his community as a teenager while working on his service project to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Currently he is Chairman of the City of Jacksonville Planning Commission and has served on the Commission since 2006. Marc has also actively worked to protect one of Jacksonville’s greatest resources- the St. Johns River- by serving on the Legal Board of the St. Johns Riverkeeper organization since its inception. In his free time, Marc enjoys spending time with his two children, Meredith, 13, and Marcus, 11, and cheering them on at their various volleyball, football, and basketball games. Marc also enjoys being out on the water- he is an avid fisherman and loves water sports. Accomplishments: • Achieved highest “AV” rating by Martindale Hubbell for legal ability and ethics • Awarded by the military the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 5 Army Commendation Medals, 2 Army Achievement Medals, and 6 Reserve Overseas Training Medals • Earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University and his Juris Doctorate degree at Mercer University School of Law • Put violent criminals behind bars as an Assistant State Attorney in the Homicide and Sex Crimes Divisions • Served our country honorably and retired after over 21 years of service as Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, Judge Advocates General Corps and as Company Commander of the 345th Combat Support Hospital as part of the 3rd Armor Division in the Persian Gulf War Please visit my website: www.votehardesty.com
