Candidate: Darryl Fleming

CANDIDATE: Darryl Fleming Office: City Council District 1 A career United States Marine Corps Officer and Boy Scout Professional; Darryl has made Jacksonville, Florida his home since 1998. He has worked as a Program/Project Management professional, an Acquisition and Logistics professional and Strategic planner. A graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Department of Defense Acquisition and Logistics University and Jones College, Jacksonville, Florida he holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (magnum cum lade) and several professional certificates. A Eagle Scout; his passion to work with youth led him to a second career as a Boy Scout Professional; directing the Scoutreach program which provided the scout program to disadvantaged youth throughout Duval County. In this capacity he was able to interact with numerous Non-profit Organizations, businesses, Jacksonville Housing Authority, and other Jacksonville Agencies which support year round family programs. He has served on the Jacksonville Housing Authority Resident Opportunities Board and Families First Community Service Board. Married to Wanda, a former Banker, Real Estate and Insurance Agent they have four grown children and nine grandchildren; together they understand the strain the economy puts on everyone raising a family today. Families need financial relief from tax increases and utility burdens. Senior Citizens need tax relief through tax credits. Stabilization of our tax system is crucial. We must work with the School Board to improve our elementary and secondary education system that is the key to higher paying jobs for our citizens. Managed city growth must be a top priority with an emphasis on attracting high tech industrial businesses that bring higher paying jobs to our citizens. Job creation, economic opportunity, affordable housing, infrastructure, senior and veteran affairs must round out the list of council priority issues; while at the same time balancing the budget. I believe we must provide for and protect our Firefighters, Law Enforcement and Teachers while working with them to ensure they are accountable and responsive to our citizens. Darryl is committed to serving the citizens of District 1 (Arlington), presenting their needs and concerns to the City Council while opening up a two way flow of information and communication, and also to supporting our elected Mayor and Democratic Party agendas for a better Jacksonville. His commitment to City Council is his old fashion value system, values based on God first, Honor, Courage and Commitment.
