Candidate's Statement

About John Crescimbeni John Crescimbeni, a proven fiscal conservative and respected local businessman, has demonstrated his commitment to public service through ten years of distinguished service on the Jacksonville City Council. During those years on the Council, he has never missed a regular meeting. And he is the only City Council member who chooses to serve without the help of an Executive Council Assistant, thus saving taxpayers more than $70,000 each year. Apart from his work on the Council, John also serves on the boards for several local charitable and civic organizations, including the Jacksonville Humane Society, Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library and Tree Hill Nature Center. John has the courage and determination to ask the tough questions and to say no to wasteful spending and unnecessary taxes and fees. As the owner of the local Hickory Farms franchise for more than three decades, he is a successful small business owner who knows how to balance budgets, cut expenses and operate efficiently. He understands how too much regulation and taxation can hurt small businesses and will continue to fight against them. John has been a strong voice on the Council for average citizens. He stood up for taxpayers in leading the fight against the City\'s controversial $750 million no-bid landfill contract. He also stood with Arlington residents against the unpopular effort to expand Craig Airport and with neighborhoods throughout Jacksonville against inappropriate zoning changes. John has worked tirelessly on initiatives to improve the quality of life in Jacksonville through anti-litter and visual pollution initiatives. A resident of Jacksonville since 1965, John graduated from Bolles High School, Florida Community College and Jacksonville University - where he triple-majored in marketing, economics and management and graduated with honors. John is married and has three children and one grandchild. He and his family attend Christ’s Church in Mandarin.
