Candidate: Kendall Bryan

As a husband, father, small businessman and lifelong resident of District 14, I have a unique perspective of the challenges and opportunities of the district. I am the only candidate for this office who was born and raised in District 14 and my family has lived here for five generations. We have raised families, built businesses and lives and have a deep love for this particular part of Jacksonville. As your member of the City Council I will focus on three specific things that are so very important to taking this district and our city to the next level. First and foremost, we must keep taxes low and always look for ways to cut unnecessary spending in the city budget. Before voting for any new project I will ask, \"Is this project necessary and can the taxpayers afford it?\" Next, we must create an environment where existing businesses both small and large can grow and thrive and where companies from other cities and states will want to relocate here. This can only be done by keeping taxes low, streamlining the permitting process and making certain that our public education system is on par with any other in the world. Finally, none of these things can be accomplished if those that live and work here do not feel safe to go about their daily lives. We must always remember that the primary function of government is to keep us all safe, in our homes and on the street. We have seen great gains in the past few years, but must not let up. I want Jacksonville to be a place where people want to live and work and where others want to move here due to our incredible quality of life. We can be an exciting, vibrant and dynamic city that has ample opportunities for those who are willing to work hard. We have many of natural assets the envy of many and we have a tremendous amount of potential that is as of yet untapped. With your support, I will be able to take this vision for our city\'s future to the City Council this year.
