Candidate's Statement

ELECT ANDY BRYAN FOR MAYOR as Write-In Candidate Hello, my name is Andy Bryan and I want you and me to live the American Dream, and that dream is to own your property without fear of losing it because of property taxes. As of now, everyone benefits from revenue created by property taxes; even those who do not own property. My proposal is to eliminate property taxes and replace with a broad based consumption tax that is fair and equitable to everyone. The current running of our city’s government is not allowing this to happen. The financial mismanagement of this city is causing our hard earned money to be taken from us in the form of taxes. I am a 5th generation Jacksonville native that is hoping to put a stop to the abuse of this city (tax and spend) by career politicians. I am proud to be running as a write-in candidate for mayor. I want to reduce the size of government, reduce taxes and save our citizens from government imposed financial burdens. The information I have provided below will give you an idea of how I have become who I am today, which is a hard-working, conservative, responsible person with common sense. I am not a politician, but a Jacksonville native and citizen that wants to save this city from economic disaster and create a city of growth and opportunity for the residents of Jacksonville.  Born January 1st, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida  Andrew Jackson High School - 1962  US Army 1965-1968 Vietnam Era  NRA Member  Retired CSX employee (Switchman) of over 20 years.  Real Estate Investor Reduce Taxes • Repeal all newly instituted taxes from Peyton administration (property, gas, storm water fee – must be reduced or eliminated to return money to the citizens and in turn STIMULATE JOB GROWTH) Replace Revenue Lost in the Elimination of Property Taxes by: • Tax placed on items that are bad for your health or the environment; cigarettes, alcohol, plastics. • Institute 4 day work week for all city business – Wednesday through Saturday • City benefit package to be reviewed and updated to coincide with the private sector • Moratorium on all new government building across all departments. • Replace property tax with a broad based consumption tax, making it fair and equitable for everyone. Moratorium on Urban Sprawl: Encourage building up, not out; encourage downtown development by requiring less property tax as incentive to attract new residents. Move government offices from downtown water front property and return to the citizens in the form of parks or residential living. Non-Violent Drug offenses – Provide treatment– save millions in operation of jail system and keep youth from becoming hardened criminals. Use counseling, not incarceration. Prohibition of alcohol didn’t work; neither does prohibition of marijuana use. Political Advertisement paid for and approved by Andy Bryan, WRI for Mayor 904-629-0475
