Candidate: Dick Kravitz

I am a 35 year resident of Jacksonville. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Ohio University. I am married to Shirley Levin Kravitz, a retired Duval County Public School teacher and third generation Jacksonville resident. I am the father of two grown sons: Eric, a Gator and Hirsh, a Seminole. I have received several national and regional awards for my managerial and administrative abilities. These important business-related skills will enable me to run the Tax Collector’s office in an efficient and cost-effective manner. My prime goal will be to insure that you, the Tax Collector’s customers, are treated with the courtesy and respect you deserve. I am a former Jacksonville City Councilman, Council President and State Representative. As a City Councilman, I worked to successfully reduce property taxes by $65 million dollars and to serve the needs of my constituents, not those of the special interest lobbyists. As a State Legislator, I successfully fought against the sales tax on services and was the sponsor of numerous pieces of victims’ rights legislation designed to protect children from dangerous sexual predators, including the Jessica Lundsford Act” which mandates a minimum, mandatory 25 year to life sentence for child molesters.
