Candidate: David Crosby

I have lived around Jacksonville most of my life. I attended W.E. Cherry, S. Bryan Jennings, Stilwell Junior High, Jefferson Davis Junior High and I was in the 9th grade at Orange Park High when we moved in to the new 2-story building. My paper route covered the old Belair neighborhood, I played Little League for Buck\'s Tire Company and was a member of the Boy Scout troop sponsored by Calvary United Methodist Church. My family moved to South Carolina when my father retired from the Navy in 1971 and took a job as Deputy Sheriff in Lexington County. I graduated from Spring Valley High School in Columbia a year early in 1973. At the age of 17, I joined the Navy as a Seaman Recruit (E-1). After Basic Training in Orlando and Advanced Aviation Electronics training in Memphis, Tn, I returned to Jacksonville in 1975. I retired from the Navy as an E-9 Master Chief Avionics Maitenance Technician (Air Warfare/Surface Warfare) on the day NAS Cecil Field was closed, October 31, 1999. My commands included VA-12, VA-15, VA-37, VA-174, VFA-105, USS FORRESTAL, NAMTRAGRUDET NAS CECIL FIELD, AIMD & MWR NAS JACKSONVILLE and STRIKE FIGHTER WINGS ATLANTIC FLEET. I served aboard USS INDEPENDENCE, USS LEXINGTON, USS KENNEDY, USS SARATOGA, USS AMERICA, USS ENTERPRISE, USS EISENHOWER, HMS ARK ROYAL and MARINE AIR GROUP 12 at IWAKUNI, JAPAN. During my Naval career I also worked part time as a wrecker driver and weekend mechanic at 103rd Street Shell, sold high performance parts at Honest Charlie\'s Speed Shop on Blanding Blvd and took some classes at Florida Junior College. I purchased my current home and moved my mother in when my father passed away in 1985. For more than 10 years, I have been driving a tractor-semitrailer over the road for the same company. I enjoy surfing, SCUBA diving, motorcycle riding, music, movies, reading, learning, animals, working around the house and anything to do with American classic cars. I was married twice, have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 very nice ex-wives. Only my youngest son resides in Jacksonville, with his new bride.
