Candidate's Statement

Audrey has been a leader in government, private business and the non-profit sector while heading up numerous commissions and leadership boards. Experience in Government: Audrey served as the Director of Legislative Affairs under Mayor Ed Austin. In this capacity, she was tasked with ensuring that the City Council and the Mayor\'s Office worked together to tackle important issues. Audrey also served as the Chief of Staff during Mayor John Delaney’s second term in office. As an Assistant State Attorney in Duval County, Audrey fought for the law abiding citizens of Jacksonville and ensured that those who broke the law were brought to justice. She served with distinction as the Director of County Court, a member of the Homicide Division and founding Director of the Special Assault Unit, which prosecuted those who committed heinous crimes against women, children and the elderly. Experience in the Private Sector: Audrey was the President of Moran Mediation Group. Her experience as a small business owner allows her to understand the needs of those dealing with balancing a payroll and making a business thrive even during hard economic times. Experience in the Non-Profit Sector: For the past three years, Audrey has served as the President and CEO of the Sulzbacher Center, a comprehensive facility that serves homeless men, women and children of Northeast Florida. As the head of an 8 million dollar non-profit organization, Audrey must manage a large staff and ensure that every dollar is used effectively and with the maximum impact. This experience will enable her to work with a large budget, but at the same time make sure that our citizens tax dollars are used properly and not wasted. Additional achievements: • Leader of Mayor Peyton\'s Positive Youth Development Subcommittee of the Jacksonville Journey: A Comprehensive Community-Wide Anti-Crime Initiative • Chair of the Board of Visitors for the Florida Coastal School of Law • Co-Chair of Project Breakthrough, a race-relations initiative sponsored by the Aspen Institute. • Trustee of the Jessie Ball DuPont Fund • Klechak Award for Downtown Advocacy • Rotary Good Government Award • Leadership Jacksonville Community Trustee Award • Daily Record \"Lawyer of the Year\" Award • Downtown Rotary, Member • Jacksonville Women\'s Network, Member • Inaugural Member of Jacksonville Economic Development Commission • Previous Chairman of the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida • Previous Executive Board Member of the Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership • Previous Member of the Board of Directors of Baptist Medical Center • Previous Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority • Previous Member of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission Audrey received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Syracuse University and is also a graduate of Duke University’s School of Law, where she served as student body president and at graduation received the Outstanding Oral Advocate Award. Audrey lives in Jacksonville and is married to the Honorable John A. Moran, II. They have four children, Caitlin, a senior at Florida State University; Jack, a sophomore at Florida State University; Mary Kelley, a senior at Episcopal High School and Michael a sophomore at Bishop Kenny High School. Coco the Chocolate Lab and Mack the German Shepherd round out the Moran family, along with Comeback, their 15 year-old cat that they rescued from a shelter.
