Candidate's Statement

A lifelong resident of Dixie County, Nick is the son of Dewey Hatcher, Sr., and Judy Raker Hatcher.

Nick, 39, is married to Katie Osteen Hatcher and they have three daughters, Rhyan, Haylee and Lainey. The Hatchers are members of the Cross City Church of God.

Hatcher is a Dixie County High School graduate and a graduate of Florida Gateway College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree. He has completed 90 hours on his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology at St. Leo University. Hatcher completed training in The Florida Correctional Basic Training Recruit Program and graduated as Valedictorian of his class.

Hatcher has been employed during the past twelve years at the Cross City Correctional Institution, his most recent four years working as Classifications Supervisor. As a Classification Supervisor, Hatcher has been extremely fortunate to surround himself with great people who make his department one of the most efficient in the state. He is currently a member of the Leadership Team, having responsibility for the supervision of day to day operations. A proven leader, Hatcher serves as a Duty Warden, during which time he is in charge of crime scenes and works with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. While serving as Duty Warden, he is responsible for approximately three hundred and fifty employees and over seventeen hundred inmates.

Hatcher comes from a family of lawmen. His grandfather, L.E. Hatcher, as well as his great grandfather, D.H. Hatcher, were former Dixie County Sheriffs, and his father is the current retiring Sheriff Dewey Hatcher, Sr. A long-established ambition to become Sheriff has led to Hatcher’s decision to run for the Office.

Hatcher believes that his leadership experience and work ethics will enable him to provide fair, firm and consistent law enforcement to the people of Dixie County. He welcomes the opportunity to meeting as many Dixie County citizens as possible during the next six months.

Hatcher can do the job.
