Candidate: Tiffany Justice

Hello, my name is Tiffany Justice. My husband Mark and I have been married for 12 years and we have four children, ages 4, 6, 8, and 11. I was raised here in Vero Beach and am the daughter of Ken and Janine Puttick. I have spent the last 11 years as a stay at home mother, and because of that I have a unique and experienced perspective on the importance of early childhood education. Our children will be in three different public schools next year. Ava, our eldest, will begin her middle school education at Gifford Middle School. Oliver, 8, and Griffin, 6, will both attend Beachland Elementary School and Reed, 4, will attend VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) at First Presbyterian Church. Background Attended St. Edwards School and American University, Washington DC Vice President, Castaway Cove IV & V Homeowners Association Member Holy Cross Catholic Church Advocacy Experience  Began advocacy for Beachland in 2013  Appointed PTA liaison to the School Board and became the voice behind the Beachland Revitalization Project  Worked towards goal of school renovation from 2013 through 2016, attending School Board meetings, discussion sessions and workshops and communicating with District Staff and School Board members.  Was instrumental in achieving a 5-0 vote on February 23rd, 2016 for the $8 million Beachland Revitalization Project to be started June 2016 Justice For All I was able to use my strong voice and determination to advocate successfully for Beachland and now would like to have the opportunity to do the same for all of the children and schools of Indian River County as a School Board member.  School Choice for ALL  Accountability for ALL  Achievement for ALL I understand that academic achievement should be more than a line item on an agenda. Education and student achievement must be the primary focus of every decision made by the School Board for the children of Indian River County. I believe that the citizens have to constantly remind our local government officials and community members that the children of our county are the first priority. Children cannot advocate for themselves, making it our duty to stand up for children’s rights. I recognize that parental involvement is a main driver of school success. Therefore, it is imperative that parents be welcomed, heard and encouraged to be an active participant both at the school and school board levels. I also represent the community’s view as a parent and a taxpayer, and I will be able to collaborate with community partners and parents in every school in Indian River County; traditional, charter, public and private. Indian River County is unique in so many ways and the onus rests on the citizens to respect our traditional values and celebrate our diversity. We have amazing community partnerships that provide philanthropic support to wonderful programs in our schools. Community partnerships help to mend the gap left by lack of funding for many state mandates.
