Candidate: Vicki Phillips

Vicki Phillips has been happily married to her husband James for thirty one years. They reside in Lecanto. They have two children and five grandchildren. Vicki is a North Carolina native and she has lived in Florida for 36 years and has resided in Citrus County for 26 years giving her detailed knowledge of the issues affecting our county. Vicki is currently serving her sixteenth year as County Commissioner for district 3. She was first elected to office in 1992, re-elected in 1996, 2000, and 2004. While serving Vicki has proven her desire and dedication to serving the people by being accessible and accountable. She continuously offers a common sense approach when deciding issues and she has always worked hard to be fiscally conservative when spending your tax dollars. When deciding issues Vicki works to research the issues, consider all of the facts, listen to the people, and then base her decisions on common sense principles and what is in the best for all of Citrus County. Vicki does not represent any special interest groups and she works to be consistent and fair to all citizens. Over and over she has demonstrated her ability and willingness to ask the hard questions regarding expenditures and the necessity of projects or purchases. She always works to insure your tax dollars are used efficiently and effectively. Vicki became one of the first of a few across the state to become a Certified County Commissioner through the educational programs of the Florida Counties Foundation. Later she successfully completed the required hours of classes to earn the title of Advanced County Commissioner through the Florida Forum for County Leaders. She graduated from Central Florida Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. She is a graduate of Leadership Citrus. Vicki served as a former Citrus County School Volunteer and has served and is currently serving on various local and regional boards, councils and coalitions. In 2002 Vicki received the distinct honor of being named Citrus County’s Most Admired Leader by Altrusa International, Inc. The Florida Association of Counties presented Vicki with the 2003 Presidential Advocacy Award and recognized her for her outstanding contributions to local governments during the 2003 Legislative Session. Vicki is dedicated to continuing to serve you conservatively with integrity, professionalism and fairness. Vicki has proven her dedication to the citizens of Citrus County and her leadership abilities.
