Candidate's Statement

Tony Anderson is a father, grandfather, faithful Christian, retired small business owner, lifelong conservative, and unapologetic Republican. He has served as Walton County Commissioner for District 5 since 2016.

Tony is running for re-election in the August 20, 2024, Republican primary. He believes that the best way to address the challenges facing Walton County is by bringing people together, sticking to conservative principles, pursuing projects that benefit our entire county, and saying “no” to big government.

FROM WALTON COUNTY. FOR ALL OF WALTON COUNTY.

Tony grew up in Walton County, raised his family here, coached Little League here, and worked here his whole life. He is the proud father of Colby, Logan, and Keagan. His three amazing grandchildren (Ellie, Elijah, and Eden) call Walton County home, too.

For 30 years, Tony delivered our mail as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service –– logging 599,000 miles on Walton County’s roads. After retiring from the USPS, Tony started a 45-person insulation and garage repair firm that he sold in 2009.

Tony first ran for commissioner in 2016 because he was tired of elected officials talking about problems without delivering results. Walton County voters agreed, and Tony was elected with strong countywide support.

DELIVERING RESULTS FOR WALTON COUNTY

Over the past eight years, Tony has worked with residents, his fellow commissioners, and with the county's dedicated employees to make Walton County a better place to live, raise a family, work, and retire.

Under Tony’s leadership, Walton County has welcomed 1,400 new businesses and 10,000 new jobs, made historic investments in new public beach accesses and parking, fought for customary use of our beaches, cracked down on bad behavior by beach vendors, significantly enhanced parks and recreation options countywide, pursued some of the largest infrastructure projects in recent memory, and cut property tax rates.

THE CONSERVATIVE CHOICE

With your support, Tony will continue to deliver results for Walton County and address the challenges we face. He believes in conservative, free-market solutions. He will stand with small business owners and oppose new taxes and regulations, work to attract new industries and higher-paying jobs to Walton County, reduce traffic and restrain development by building up our infrastructure and protecting green space, and investing in countywide parks and recreation.
