Candidate: Bruce E Vickers

I am a 14 year veteran of the Osceola County Tax Collector’s office and am currently the Director of the Tourist Tax and Business Tax Department. As Director of that Department, I have been responsible for the collection and accounting of a total of over $400 million in tourist taxes and the annual issuance of over 50,000 Business Tax Receipts. I have an extensive background in administration, having served as Incentive Merchandising Coordinator for Tupperware Headquarters, Supervisor of the Criminal Court Clerk Division at the Osceola County Clerk of Courts and Administrative Office Manager for Good Samaritan Retirement Village prior to joining the Tax Collector’s office in 2001. I am a graduate of Osceola High School and attended Florida Baptist Schools & Seminary currently named Emmaus Baptist College. I am a graduate of the State Department of Revenue Tax Collector training and have received my Certified Tax Collector Associate designation. I have also earned an Executive Leadership Certification from the State of Florida Tax Collectors Association in connection with Valencia College. I am a graduate of the 2012 Osceola Leadership program sponsored by Community Vision. I am very active in the Florida Tourist Development Tax Association, having served as its President in 2010-2011 and currently serving as Vice President. I was recently recognized by the Florida Tourist Development Tax Association with their Distinguished Service Award. I am married to my wife Bobbie and we have a 12 year old son. My family and I are active members of our church. I have served as director of Vacation Bible School, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and Music Director and am currently participating in the church choir. The opportunity to work with The Honorable Patsy Heffner for the past 14 years has provided me with a solid foundation in office operations, staff management and customer service. Consequently, there will be no down time during the transition. I will routinely review procedures and process to ensure we are utilizing our time efficiently while still meeting our statutory requirements. I will be diligent in identifying additional services which we might offer for the benefit and convenience of our citizens. Regular reviews of best practices, organizational performance and customer service will form the cornerstone of our future growth.
