Candidate's Statement

As someone who has called Citrus County home since infancy, I am deeply committed to upholding the law and preserving the integrity of our judicial system. My journey to this point has been one of perseverance and dedication, marked by personal and professional challenges that have only strengthened my resolve to serve our community with honor and fairness.

Balancing the responsibilities of parenthood while pursuing my legal education was no easy feat. However, with determination and unwavering commitment, I successfully graduated from Barry University, School of Law, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2013. Throughout this journey, I was the sole caregiver for my young son for 9 months out of the year while my husband worked out of town, a testament to my ability to manage multiple responsibilities with grace and efficiency.

For the past 11 years, I have served as a Trial Court Staff Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in both Hernando and Citrus Counties. In this role, I have provided invaluable legal guidance to the judiciary across a spectrum of cases, from criminal to civil, probate to family law. My experience has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of our legal system, allowing me to navigate complex legal issues with confidence and precision.

I am proud to have recently accepted a position as a Citrus County Assistant State Attorney, furthering my commitment to justice in our community. If elected as your next Citrus County Judge, I pledge to uphold the highest standards of judicial integrity and fairness. Every case that comes before me will be met with unbiased attention and a commitment to due process, ensuring that each individual receives the fair and equitable treatment they deserve under the law.

My goal as your County Judge will be to safeguard the principles enshrined in our Constitution and ensure that decisions are made based on legal precedent and the merits of each case. I am dedicated to moving cases efficiently to prevent backlog and provide timely resolutions that uphold the rights of all citizens.

Education:

  • Graduated Lecanto High School – 2003
  • Graduated Bluefield College – 2006
  • Graduated Barry University, School of Law - 2012

Experience:

  • Trial Court Staff Attorney – 2013 - 2018
  • Senior Trial Court Staff Attorney – 2018 - 2024
  • Assistant State Attorney – 2024 – present

With your support, I am confident that I can continue to serve our community with integrity, fairness, and dedication as your Citrus County Judge. Please follow me on socials @athomas4judge. For additional information, you can reach out to my committee at athomas4judge@gmail.com.
