Candidate's Statement

Candidate Statement:

If chosen by the volters of Citrus County as their next County Court Judge, I will provide fair and just resolution of disputes in accordance with the laws of the state of Florida and the Constitution. In addition, I will provide fair and impartial decisions of cases in an efficient and timely manner to the community that meets or exceeds expectations. Lastly, I will ensure that all parties are treated with dignity, courtesy and respect.

Judicial Philosophy:

I believe that cases should be decided based on the law. Whether that law is from the Constitution, the legislature or legal precedent. A judge should not allow their personal or political preferences to influence the decision.

Education:

Associate in Arts, Valencia College, Orlando, FL.; Bachelor of Arts, Legal Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice, University of Central Florida; Juris Doctorate, University of Florida College of Law

Experience:

In July 2000, I began my legal career as a Certified Legal Intern with the Citrus County State Attorney's Office. I remained as a CLI until I took the Florida Bar in February 2001. In April 2001, I was sworn in as a member of the Florida Bar and continued my career with the Citrus County State Attorney's Office. On December 31, 2003, I left the State Attorney's Office to begin a career in private practice. On January 1, 2004, I began working for the law firm of Militello & Militello, PA. While working at the firm, I handled criminal defense, civil litigation, family law, dependency and small claims. In the summer of 2008, I left Militello & Militello, PA, to open my own firm in Citrus County. As a sole practitioner, I continued to handle criminal defense, civil litigation, family law, dependency and small claims. On November 1, 2013, I returned to the Citrus County State Attorney's Office to run the Juvenile and Intake divisions. In April 2018, I was transferred to the Hernando office to supervise the new attorneys. Currently I am supervising new attorneys and interns in the office and I maintain a full felony docket.

Personal:

Birthplace: Orlando, FL; 6th generation Floridian; resident of Citrus County for 21 years. I am a single parent of two grown children. My son is a 2020 graduate of Citrus High School. Currently, he is working as an aerial lineman in Connecticut. My daughter is a 2022 graduate of Citrus High School. She will be attending the University of Tennessee this fall. My daughter will also be a member of the Tennessee National Guard while attending school, with the goal of becoming a JAG Officer in the United States Army.
