Candidate's Statement

Max Madl is a current Viera High School student graduating in May of 2024. In addition to his high school graduation, Madl plans to graduate with his Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Eastern Florida State College at the same time. During his time in high school, Madl fought for students and the student perspective. As an active participant in Viera High's Student Government Association (SGA), Madl took on tasks relating to school service, citizenship development, community service, school spirit/culture, and more. At the end of Madl's junior year, he decided to run for Secretary of the Student Government Association. After assuming office, Madl's new leadership position included keeping tabs on members' projects, taking minutes during general and officer meetings, and creating the Florida Association of Student Councils Medallion Council binder. Being Secretary of the Student Government Association was not the only leadership position Madl held; Madl was the Secretary of the National Honor Society at Viera High School. Here, he upheld the four pillars the national organization promotes: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Madl has served on the School Advisory Committee (SAC) for Viera High School since the end of his sophomore year. This job entailed voting on allocating funding given to the school and attending regular meetings with community members, staff, and administrators. Madl also took advantage of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Throughout his freshman, sophomore, and junior years, he was involved in the Dental Aide CTE program. This is where Madl learned the importance of getting students hands-on work experience inside of the classroom at the high school level. Madl recognized that college is not the best option for all students; Many students are better fit for going to trade/technical schools, immediately entering the workforce, or even joining the military.

Max Madl is ready to face any challenge that comes his way. As a candidate for nonpartisan office, he promises to stay impartial on important decisions to ensure he prioritizes the needs of students, parents, and all Brevard Public Schools staff. In the (near) future, Madl plans to attend a four-year in-state university with a major in political science and a minor in education. Afterward, Madl wants to attend law school and eventually work in the field of education policy and law.
