Candidate: Tina Descovich

Tina Descovich is an experienced professional with over two decades of business experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. In her career she has hired and managed large teams, held profit and loss responsibility and served on the executive staff for a United States Army Commanding General. Tina has been an advocate for students, parents and teachers in our community and has volunteered over 2,000 hours in Brevard Public Schools. She is the founder of an organization that fights High Stakes Testing and is an outspoken critic of Common Core. She is a member of the School Advisory Council and is a past president of Indialantic Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Under Tina’s direction the Indialantic Elementary PTO was recognized with an award for being one of the best PTOs in the country. At the Melbourne Air & Space Show, Tina put her leadership and communication skills to work for our community by recruiting, training and coordinating over 650 volunteers for the past two years. She has served as President of Sally’s Friends (a non-profit addiction recovery home for mothers) and she is on the Executive Committee of the women’s organization at her church. Tina is a Brevard native. She and her husband Derek have five children, of which two are currently school-aged and attending Brevard Public Schools. It is Tina’s goal to restore decision-making authority over our children’s education to parents, teachers and the local school board.
