Candidate's Statement

Doug McClure My Dad Was Professor Alum at Purdue, ran for Superintendent in 1968, but that year we lost him in a terrible accident on State road 21 and Lake Winnott rd. I was 4, About 8 months later My Mother married Harold P. Robinson Ret. Navy, Ret. Hudson Paper mill. Store owner till Stroke in 1977, I was in the seventh Grade and had to grow up fast. We owned a family store, little fruit stand/ Nursery on State road 20 since the early 70’s. a few years ago I closed the nursery due to high theft rates. And to Run a company in Gainesville due to the loss of a dear friend Well as for education I lost interest, Made more in construction than my mother made working as a book keeper for a Church. With my Step Dad having a stroke I felt is was my duty to help my mother pay the bills. So I went and got a GED. Then went to SFCC for a year thought I was going to become a FWC officer. I answered an ad for security officer, worked at GP gate, filled out application worked at GP for almost a year. Loved it. We had a union vote and I was let go for not wearing a vote no shirt. So I went to work driving a dump truck and making beaches and driveways. In 1986 I decided to join the US Army, they told me they had rangers, I thought sure, that will give me more experience for a game warden job (free airboat and truck) Was my goal at the time.. Well 8.5 years later I\'d been trained, schooled and became a leader of men. I was a marshal arts instructor, P.A.D.I. scuba instructor, first aid/ CPR instructor, and I lead a group of men into Iraq and brought them home. In 1995 I became a civilian again, worked as a cable man in north Florida which included Hawthorne, Melrose, Palatka, out on West River road, and Bostwick. Then worked in pest control, landscape, irrigation and nursery work since then. Worked in companies such as Home Depot, after a 90 day review I was promoted to Dept. Head. Throughout this time I had also volunteered many hours as a VFD member under chief Dickerson. Also a few hours to Habitat. My family and I are active members of a wonderful Church, which is dear to my heart. Especially those “pot luck “ dinners Yummy! I have always excelled in every endeavor, by looking at all paths then choosing the best, usually less traveled, mostly because its harder to do the right thing. So my slogan has been since 1988, \"can’t means wont,\" take the hard right over the easy wrong. 38 of my 47 years have been here in Putnam County I moved back from Volusia County in 2003. Married to my wife Kathy who is a full time mom to my 3 children, and they attend county schools. We have a Black Lab and a Pitt Bull terrier, to round out our family. I want to be county commissioner because I cannot afford to run for president. Wow millions to billions spent to get a job that pays _______. Well in a nut shell I am tired of laziness type of attitude. Stand up! We have to rebuild our country from the bottom up. I want there to be peaceful places to raise a family, people to volunteer, folks to love one another, I want pill mills, crack houses, and meth labs ended, for citizens to get involved in daily business of your back yard first. Voting should be district so folks like me stand a chance against big money. What makes me qualified? I can read write and understand English. I am passionate about the environment. I am an honest ex combat vet which insures me and every other free man the right to qualify to run for this office, and gives each of us the rights we have now. I am the only candidate that I know who will do what ever it takes to get the job done; I have never failed a mission. My peers will work with Me and I with them. My superiors will know me well as will the Governor of this fine state. Doug McClure for Putnam county Commissioner district 5, hire a soldier, If I’d put my life on the line for you with out your vote, think of what I will do with your support! The Constitution of the United States …. Its only keepers, the people. George Washington
