Candidate: Buddy Goddard

I have been a Florida resident for more than 50 years. Over six years ago, I bought our homestead from Larry and Charla Minnick, my in-laws. We chose to raise our family in Palatka, where family values are very important to us. I have grown to love our rural community, and I take pride in calling Palatka “home.” I graduated from high school in 1974. I have completed administrative and supervisory courses, and I have worked different jobs in the sales and mechanical insulation industry. I managed numerous projects for NASA, military bases, shipyards, chemical plants, power houses, and pulp wood plants. I have successfully owned and operated my own mechanical insulation business, Goddard Mechanical Insulation (GMI). I have my Certified Florida Evaluator certificate, and for the last six years I have been a Field Appraiser for the Putnam County Property Appraiser’s Office. Formerly, I served the area of downtown Palatka where I handled the City of Palatka city permits and commercial and residential properties. Recently, my field territory was reassigned to serve Area #1 which is West Putnam County that stretches from the Clay County line down to the Marion County line. My oldest son and daughter, Thomas and Theresa Goddard, graduated from Palatka High School and my youngest daughter, Myranda, attends Kelley Smith Elementary School. Thomas is a resident of Putnam County and Theresa serves in the United States Marine Corps. My wife, Shawn Dale Goddard, is the Executive Secretary for the Putnam County School District Maintenance Department and is a native of Palatka. I attend Trinity Baptist Church where I serve as one of the key leaders, and I am heavily involved in the Mission’s Ministry of the church serving those in need. I assist with the decisions and finances as well as the church outreach within our community. I have a vast amount of knowledge that I have gained in the public and private sectors and a great amount of skills and experiences that I have acquired as a Field Appraiser. These experiences play an intricate part in helping to increase the economic stability in Putnam County. Together we can achieve more. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
