Candidate: MICHAEL J. GORDON

Personal: I\'m married to Beverly, we have two children and four grandchildren. We\'re raising two of our grandchildren. We are Christians. Our family has lived in Columbia County since 2000. Education: Master\'s Degree (Counseling & Psychology) from Troy State University in Dothan, AL (1995); B.A (Criminology)from the University of South Florida in Tampa (1985); A.A. from St. Petersburg (FL) College (1980); and two years of study towards a Ph.D. in Criminology from FSU (1996-1997). Employment: Most recently, Inspector Sergeant of Internal Affairs for the CCSO. Began law enforcement career in 1976 as a member of the United States Secret Service (USCP, uniformed division). Moved to Florida and worked for Madeira Beach P.D., Redington Beach P.D., the University of South Florida P.D. (promoted to Corporal), and the United States Department of Energy (federal/nuclear facility)- started as an Inspector (law enforcement), was promoted to Response Team Leader, Assistant Shift Supervisor, then Shift Supervisor (equivalent rank of Captain); acting Plant Manager on the weekends for an 1800 personnel facility. Moved to North Florida and worked for the State of Florida as an Investigator, Counselor and Psychological Specialist. Promoted to Programs Manager (Assistant Warden of Programs) in 1997 for a prison in Bay County, FL; then promoted to Assistant Warden of Operations at the Lake City Correctional Facility (for 5 years) in Columbia County. Responsibilities included supervising up to 250 employees and shared responsibility for a $20 million budget. Returned to local law enforcement in 2006 (CCSO). Clubs: Rotary Club of Lake City- Downtown; Charter member. I\'ve been the Chairman or Co-Chair for the North Florida Home & Patio Show for most of the past nine years, raising funds for local charities. Director, Board of Directors, for several years.
