9604 Cortez Rd W #223 Bradenton FL 34210 (941) 795-0601 ltyler1@tampabay.rr.com Education: High School Degree in cost accounting Background: Commissioner Tyler served as a Human Resource Director for a large shoe company in Wisconsin for 15 years, then served as Human Resources Director for the city of Beloit, Wisc., for 10 years. In 1984, he and his wife, Geri, moved to Cortez and opened Tyler’s Ice Cream. The business was a member of the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce and Commissioner Tyler served as its treasurer. They sold the ice cream business in 1996. Tyler is semi-retired and performs light maintenance for his condo association. Fire commission: Commissioner Tyler was appointed by Gov. Lawton Chiles to the fire commission in 1988 to fill the term of a commissioner who moved out of the district. He has served on the fire commission since that time. He has served as its Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer and has represented the district on the Manatee Fire Commissioners’ Association, where he served as Secretary and President. Larry Tyler and his wife, Geri, have five children, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
