Carlene H. Anderson Superintendent Candidate for Re-Election Walton County School District Carlene Anderson is currently serving as Superintendent of Schools in Walton County. Honors, Designations, and Appointments as Superintendent • Appointed by Governor Bush to serve on the Sustainable Emerald Coast Committee • Appointed by the Commissioner of Education to serve as the K-12 representative to the state Articulation Coordination Committee • Named in the Congressional Hall of Records by Congressman Bill Nelson for Outstanding Achievement • 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 Superintendent’s Award for Volunteer/Community Involvement • Certification through the Chief Executive Officers\' Leadership Development Program • Nominated for the Athena Award sponsored by the Walton County Chamber of Commerce • Designated as one of the 40 Outstanding Alumni from the University of West Florida (UWF) in celebrating the Universty\'s 40th Anniversary. • Identified as one of fourteen UWF alumni who have made a significant difference in Northwest Florida. West DeFuniak Elementary School’s Achievements under Principal Anderson’s Leadership • Recognized as a “STAR” school by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools • Named as a “High Performing Schoolwide Title I School” • Received recognition for multiple years as a Golden School award winner for Parental and Community Involvement through Volunteering • Graded as an “A” school for multiple years through the Florida School Accountability Program Carlene has trained teachers, principals and other educators throughout the state of Florida in current educational best practices throughout her career. Personal Background • 56 years of age • Married 35 years to Buck Anderson – WHS and UWF graduate. Currently employeed as helicopter instructor pilot at Ft. Rucker, AL • One daughter, Kara, 29 years old – WHS and FSU graduate.
