Candidate: Johnny Smith

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself as candidate for Walton County Commissioner, District 3. I was raised in Prattville, Alabama and have spent my entire adulthood in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. I presently live in Mossy Head. My career began in the banking business. Then I decided to live out the American dream as a farmer and business owner. During my 40\'s, I volunteered as a Posse member with the Okaloosa Sheriff\'s Office, where I realized my love for helping people and the challenges of law enforcement. I spent 20 years with the Okaloosa Sheriff\'s Office, retiring in 2004. In preparation of my retirement, I became a licensed residential contractor in 2000. This is my present occupation. During the past years in the construction business, I have come to know many of the county officials and what is entailed in the development process. My platform consists of the following key points: Promote Economic Growth Improve Public Safety Cut Run Away Spending Protect Property Rights Reduce Taxes Prioritize Road Paving Provide Recreation Facility I feel like\'s it\'s time for the people of Walton County to take back the government and begin using the common sense approach to decision making.
