Candidate's Statement
Growing up in Tallahassee, Cindy Meadows is no stranger to working in government. As a way to earn college tuition, Cindy held many positions in the state legislature during sessions. From this experience, she became interested in government and the political process. Upon graduation from Florida State University with a B.S. in Business Management, Cindy moved to central Florida where she worked for the Florida Senate.
Thereafter, she was accepted into Urban and Regional Planning, School of Architecture at the University of Florida where she earned a master\'s degree in Planning specializing in community design. For the following 17 years she held various positions related to urban planning including project management, design, community planner, and government liaison. In 1997, she returned \"home\" to the panhandle and settled in Seagrove Beach where she founded Community Planning Associates and became involved in planning issues while serving in numerous volunteer positions. Serving as Planning Commissioner for three years, Cindy became attuned to Walton County\'s challenges and ran for County Commissioner in 2004. She was elected and has the honor of serving as the first woman elected to the Walton County Commission. Cindy enjoys painting, reading, photography, outdoor activities, and the amazing beauty found in all of Walton County. She sees a bright future for the county and is excited to have the opportunity to work with the great people of Walton County.
