Candidate: Jeffery Nunemaker

Hello,

I'm Jeff Nunemaker and I'm running for Sheriff of Glades County, Florida (2024).  I am a husband, a father of two and a grandfather of one.  I have spent the last thirty five (35) years serving the community in the aspects of law enforcement, church and community events.  I'm currently a member of the Elks Lodge and the VFW.  My experience includes Corrections, dispatch, school resource, detective, traffic homicide investigator, traffic motorcycle officer and many rolls in the supervisor positions.  During my years of service, I was also the Executive Director for Sertoma Camp Endeavor (a summer camp for deaf and hard of hearing children 7-17 located in Dundee, Florida) which I held on a part time bases. While the Executive Director I was responsible for the day to day operations, 53 member staff (who by the way were deaf or hard of hearing).  I traveled throughout the state of Florida to speak at the Sertoma clubs and other events to raise money for the camp.  I also researched and wrote grants to help fund the camp which allowed all the kids to attend camp for free.  I was awarded Police Officer of the year in 2002 and Deputy Sheriff of the year in 2018.  While at the Hendry County Sheriff's Office I have been awarded a "Life Saving" award, "Certificate of Recognition" regarding the Sheriff's office Explorer program and the "Medal of Honor" award from the Sheriff.

My law enforcement training came from the now known as Polk State Collage located in Winter Haven, Florida and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.  I got state certified as a corrections officer (1989) and a law enforcement officer (1992).  I have attended many advanced training classes to further my carreer at Polk State College, IPTM and the Ft. Myers Public Safety Academy.  I have a full knowledge of keeping a tight budget, I am very good at leadership and motivating members of my team.  Most of all, I feel honored to help those in need and keep our quality of life to its best. I have a plan ready to put in place if elected.
