Candidate's Statement

Hello Folks, I am Kevin Bloom running for Freeport City Council Seat 2. The election is July 11th 2017 and I seek your support. For those that don\'t know me I have been in Freeport since 1983. I was raised in an Air Force family and once reaching adult age I lived in Pennsylvania and worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Dept. of the Auditor General, Bureau of Investigations. After visiting family stationed at Hurlburt Field and being of the nature to look for a new challenge I packed and moved to Freeport. In 1989 I went into the auto body business in Freeport and have been an entrepreneur ever since. Some of you may remember my mother from Silka\'s Pizza from the 90\'s. In the year 2000 the challenge was calling again. I moved to the Republic of Panama. I had family matters to oversee and after living in the Canal Zone as a kid I always had a desire to return. I took what I knew from my years in the auto body business and started an international company in Panama importing products from Finland,Japan,Malaysia and the U.S.A. I exported throughout 10 countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Almost all of the business being done in Spanish which I did not speak at the time. I closed this business after 6 years and went into the construction and tourism business with 2 bed and breakfasts providing fishing and scuba diving services. One location on the Pacific coast and the other on the Atlantic coast. In 2013 I decided to return with my family to Freeport. That\'s right, we liked it enough to live here for the second time. My life is well in order and I manage my own rental properties and have been restoring the old McCaskill-Brown house, built in 1889 on North St. in Freeport which I now call home. This gives me free time for something else, like a new challenge. With this being said I offer my services to help our community navigate through delicate decisions that will affect our city for years to come. I present myself as a political outsider with no compromising ties in Florida. I will bring a strong business background and a breath of fresh air to our local government. Thank you for considering me in your political decisions. I welcome your comments, ideas, suggestions and support, however, I am not accepting monetary donations and will be self funding my campaign. FREEPORT FIRST!
