Candidate: Tammy L Hale

My name is Tammy Hale, and I am so excited to introduce myself as a Republican candidate for Gilchrist County Commissioner District 5. For 34 years I have been happily married to my best friend and greatest support, Chris Hale. We have 2 amazing sons, Hayden 28, and Colin 25 who have also made their homes in Gilchrist County.

Although we are not lifelong residents of Gilchrist, we have owned property in the area for more than 20 years. Our family fell in love with Gilchrist and relocated here in 2016. We very intentionally chose to lay roots in Gilchrist because of the community values, the heart of the people, and the beautiful rural atmosphere. Our homestead in Bell is Heaven on Earth. I attend Bell Baptist Church where there is a strong community of faith. My faith, family, and friends are what drive me. I love spending time doing yard work, tending to the animals, and fishing.

My entire adult life has been dedicated to public service. I was employed by a nationally accredited sheriff’s office for 23 years. This agency has an annual budget of $200,000,000.00. I was assigned to Staff Inspections and Training for most of my tenure. The scope of my position focused on the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, proactive strategy, training, employee hiring and retention, and liability. After my retirement, I began working for a local Elder Law Attorney as her Medicaid Coordinator and held a part-time position with the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office. It was an honor and privilege to eventually become full-time for the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and ride with their volunteer mounted posse. I have been blessed with being a Gilchrist County employee for the last 10 years. Currently, I am employed as the administrative assistant to the Gilchrist County Clerk of Court. My responsibilities include assisting with administration and supervision of the day-to-day operations of courts, i.e., electronic case management, records management, statistical reporting, public records requests, staffing, and human resources. I am also proud to be a small business owner with 5 employees and serving 4 counties. I am a member of the Gilchrist County Chamber of Commerce and the Gilchrist County Education Foundation. I also enjoy serving as secretary of the Gilchrist County Woman’s Club.

Why do I want to run for County Commissioner? I possess a unique skill set of being proactive and looking ahead to anticipate needs and concerns. I can facilitate a working relationship between people for the common good and understand liability. I believe in listening and being the voice of the people. I believe in being accessible and engaged. I believe in transparency and accountability. I believe in our vision statement and the importance of a strong, healthy, and prosperous community. I believe in a fresh perspective. I believe decisions made today will fundamentally impact the future of our children and grandchildren. I believe in small government. I am passionate about God and our community, and I will look to both to produce exceptional outcomes.  We should never stop trying to be better.
