Candidate: Terry Strickland

Hi, my name is Terry Strickland and I am running for Escambia County Commissioner District 4.

Escambia County has been good to me and my family.

I will start with a little about me and my background.

I came to Escambia County as a young enlisted Navy man 29 years ago. I was an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Navy and like so many other naval personnel, I fell in love with the area.

I also fell in love with a local girl whom I have now been married to for the past 28 years. Her name is Laura and she is more beautiful today than ever. 

Twenty Eight years ago is also when we moved into our home in District 4. That home is where we raised our wonderful son and daughter, who are now 26 and 27, and that’s where we live today.

While in the Navy I received my Bachelor's Degree, awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation and received the Lions Club Citizenship Award.

I know how to bring teams together, respect the chain of command and accomplish goals.

I have worked for a Hearst Holdings Company, White Directory Publishers which was part of the Hearst Corporation. In 2017 Hearst ranked # 28 of America’s largest privately held companies. In my tenure of 11 years I held the titles of General Manager over the Gulf Coast and Regional Sales Trainer over AL, FL and VA.

I was the General Manager for 5 years at Blue Star Marketing which had within their franchise portfolio Valpak, The Real Estate Book and Travel Host Magazine.

I have been a Sales Manager for Cumulus Media and a Win-Back Account Executive for AT&T.

I have worked in factories, framed houses and worked in Landscaping. I have been a painter, dishwasher and even a paperboy.

I am not afraid of a hard day’s work. I also know the difficulties of finding a good paying job.

I know how to budget, exceed forecasts and bring team’s together.

I know how to close a deal, make things happen and work with people from diverse backgrounds to accomplish common goals.

If elected as next County Commissioner for District 4 I will do my best not to waste your hard earned money.
