Candidate's Statement

Born into a U. S. military family in Germany, Deborah “Deb” Moore continued her family’s tradition of service to our country as a member of the United States Air Force for 12 years. She trained as a Cryptologist at Pensacola’s Corry Station and returned here for advanced training and again as an Instructor and curriculum writer. Deb went on to serve tours of duty in England, Greece and Japan. CAREER of HONOR Deb was on a fast track her entire military career with early promotions and countless awards. She married, had one son, and became active in service to her community. From PTO President to homeroom mom, team mom, soccer coach — whatever was needed at the time in her son\'s life or in her community, Deb answered the call, including training as an FHSAA swim official and USTA tennis official. FAMILY and COMMUNITY Deb Moore’s commitment to her community has continued beyond her family-related activities. She has been a part of many community organizations while also fulfilling her commitments to her son and her family. HONOR Flights and BREAST CANCER Fights Deb was invited to assist with the First Congressional District Honor Flight, taking area World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the recently created World War II Monument. This was an assignment she valued greatly. In addition, she has been a passionate advocate for Breast Cancer Programs and has worked tirelessly to raise money to support underinsured and uninsured women in our community. Deb has also participated in Relay for Life, Pink Ribbon, and MSABC since 2005 and has been a member of the Krewe du YaYa\'s for the past 4 years, contributing as a participant in their charitable events. Additionally, she has served as a member of the League of Women Voters for the past 3 years and has been active with her party\'s Executive Committee and Women\'s Club. Special accolades include WEAR TV-3 Angels in our Midst; Air Force Achievement Medal, One Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Force Commendation Medal, One Oak Leaf Cluster; and Meritorious Service Medal. NEW Voice and STRENGTH for Escambia County Deb Moore is strongly committed to representing the people of her community in a way that focuses on the needs of Escambia County. Her desire for public service was set in motion in her military service, and now Ms. Moore is in a unique position to work full time in the District 2 County Commission role she is seeking. She is in a position to change the dynamic of the Board of County Commissioners and to have it represent the people of Escambia County with the diversity and the dedication they deserve.
