Online Education: Cornell University Institute of Labor Relations Ithaca, New York -------------- Mike and his wife Brigitte are big advocates for foster children in Escambia County. Over a five year period they fostered over 60 children, ultimately they adopted 3 of the foster children. Mike is also the President of the Mirabelle Homeowners Association subdivision which has approximately 190 homes. He served as President from 1998 to 2001 and after recruited again was elected in 2011 to present. Mike has been a resident of Pensacola since September 1994 when he relocated to Pensacola with his wife from Ithaca, New York his hometown. In 1989 while serving in the United States Army in Germany he met his wife (Brigitte) and they got married in 1990 after he was honorable discharged from military service. They returned to the United States and his hometown of Ithaca, New York where Mike worked for Hi-Speed Checkweigher Company Inc. for almost four years before relocating to Pensacola. In April 1995, Mike went to work for Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT)/ Fixed Route Mass Transit system in Escambia County as a bus operator which he is still employed and he has been elected five terms since May 1999 as the President / Business Agent of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1395 representing his co-workers at ECAT and workers at Pensacola Bay Transportation which is the Para transit service for Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Mike has been involved with County government since 1998 and been an advocate for better transit service for economic development and the citizens of our community. Mike has been an advocate for workers and lower income residents and is a regular speaker at County and City meetings speaking on their behalf. He has negotiated many labor contracts for workers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties since 1998 when he first became the Vice President of the ATU Local 1395. In May 1999 to present he serves as President / Business Agent of ATU Local 1395. Mike has served as President of the Northwest Florida Federation of Labor (CLC) - 2000 to 2005 and He has served as a District Vice President on the Florida AFL-CIO Executive Board 2000 to 2005 and He currently is also the Chairman of the ATU Florida State Legislative Conference Board 2001 to present which represents over 5000 transit workers throughout the State of Florida.
