Candidate: Jason Catalano

Please allow me a few minutes to introduce myself and explain why I have chosen to pursue this responsibility. I am a husband to an amazing woman, Tiffany; father to two beautiful little girls, Madisyn (6) and Brielle (3), and a dashingly, handsome son Jason “JJ” (6 months). Most say he takes after his father. Kidding, I’m kidding, sort of. I have lived in Walton County for ten years, the majority of my adult life. When starting our family, Tiffany and I decided this was the place we wanted to raise our children. I am a Certified Roofing Contractor in the State of Florida, and have been a small business owner for the past 10 years. As a parent, you soon realize that your children change your life, they change your priorities, and they change the way you approach the world around you. We have a responsibility as parents to do everything we can to ensure that our kids grow up in a safe environment; that they learn everything they need to be functioning adults, and that they have every opportunity afforded to them. I believe that if there is a need, and you are capable of meeting that need, then you have a responsibility to do just that. The Walton County School District finds itself in a pivotal time, and it will take men and women of character, integrity, and an understanding of the proper role of government to ensure that we progress as a community. I believe that I have a responsibility as a husband, father, and citizen to serve in whatever capacity that I am able. There are serious budgetary issues that must be addressed. We need strong teachers, who are equipped with the right tools to accomplish their jobs. And we need the involvement of parents to become engaged partners in the teaching of our children. I am not going to ask you for your vote just yet, but instead your consideration. Deciding who to vote for should not be a decision made simply by reading a single letter. Call me, talk to me, ask me questions that are important to you, and at the end of it all, I hope to have proven myself, my motive, and my competence.
