Candidate's Statement
UPDATE - FEBRUARY 22, 2014
I\'ve decided to end my candidacy for the Walton County School Board.
I\'ve never considered myself a politician, and in just a few weeks, I proved to myself that I didn\'t enjoy being a politician. Running a campaign for the school board just wasn\'t the right fit for me at this time.
With that said: there are serious issues that need to be resolved in Walton County, for the benefit of students, parents, taxpayers and teachers. We need to have a county-wide discussion and open debate about our ever-increasing property taxes. We need to encourage the school board to hold town hall meetings all throughout the county, and at convenient times, so that people can participate. We need to invite community involvement before we build new schools, so that we can use the growth of our District as an opportunity to advance student success. And we need to respect and reward our teachers with the compensation they have not only deserved, but that they have earned.
I want to be a productive part of finding common ground and common-sense solutions to these challenges. But for now, I’ll help advance these issues as a citizen volunteer – not as a candidate. That is where I feel most comfortable.
Thank you for considering my (brief) candidacy, and thank you for your support. Please feel free to email me personally if you have ideas where you think I can help moving forward: andrewrcamp@gmail.com.
With gratitude,
Andrew Campanella

CANDIDATE STATEMENT
\"I am running for Walton County School Board to give students, parents, taxpayers and teachers a stronger voice. Walton County has some of Florida’s best public schools. Together, we can make sure that our schools continue to improve, so that all children in Walton County have access to the best possible education. And we can do this while respecting the wallets of taxpayers. For more than a decade, I’ve worked to promote education reform in Florida and across the country. I have the experience and energy to be a thoughtful and effective member of our school board. Northwest Florida is my home, and I look forward to working with you to ensure a brighter future for students and taxpayers in our community. I hope you will trust me with your vote and your support.\" - Andrew R. Campanella
