Candidate: Richard C O Brien

Richard O\'Brien for Mayor of Bradenton Biography: Richard O\'Brien was raised in Sarasota and educated at Culver Military Academy, American University (B.A.), and Georgetown University (M.A.). O\'Brien teaches three courses at USF Sarasota-Manatee including International Human Rights, and has been an educator or businessman for most of his professional life. From 2000-2004 he founded and directed the Center for the Prevention of Genocide, a human rights group in Washington, D.C. that monitored and exposed violations to the U.S. government and international bodies. He has served on several bodies and charities including currently serving on the Board of Directors for Feeding Empty Little Tummies (F.E.L.T.) He was awarded a \"Game Changer\" award from the Bradenton Kiwanis Club for serving as Chair of the \"Christmas in July\" event which coordinated over 20 charities, churches, and businesses in the delivery of school-related supplies to homeless children in our community.
